Winter Wedding Shrugs | Wrap Up

Winter Wedding Shrugs | Wrap Up

If you’re planning on having an autumn or winter wedding then one aspect of your wedding attire that you’ll need to consider carefully is how to keep yourself and your bridesmaids warm on the day. This is especially true if you are planning on posing for photographs outside! There are lots of options for covering up, the most popular being shrugs.

Warm, practical and so glamorous!

Shrugs are a popular and fabulous way of looking good and keeping warm on the day, especially as they have either long or short sleeves.

Lace is very fashionable, and this heavy Chantilly lace would keep you warm!

Alternatives To Shrugs

If you don’t like the idea of wearing a shrug there are many alternatives, including stoles (which don’t tend to have sleeves) and boleros – very similar to shrugs but they have a slightly more tailored ‘jacket’ style. Or how about trying a cloak or cape? They’re romantic, will keep you very warm, and will look absolutely stunning in your wedding photos!

Similarly, there are fabrics to compliment every style of wedding dress from lace, silk, chiffon, velvet and faux fur (perfect for a winter weddings!)

CREATIVE TIP – If you opt for a stole, experiment with wearing it to the side or backwards for real drama. Your shoulders and chest will be covered, but it will dip a little in the back. This will show off the slope of your neck and back, and even accent a beautifully cut bodice or a low cut or strapless dress!

Where to Buy

There are lots of designers and specialist websites selling ‘Cover Up’s. We especially like John Lewis for a perfect high street option (great range online!), and Wrap or Shrug, a specialist website with lots of shrugs, bolero’s and up to three free fabric samples to help you match your purchase to your dress.
