Macaroons (or macarons) are currently hugely popular at weddings, and macaon towers make a chic alternative to a traditional wedding cake. They are also perfect for using as favors. The beauty of macarons is they come in a rainbow of gorgeous colours so you can choose flavours which compliment your colour theme, adding chic Parisian style to your big day.
At Aspirational Bride we recently received a gorgeous box of macarons and Cannelés de Bordeaux from Claire at la Dinette. They really were gorgeous!
La Dinette’s macarons are now available nationwide, delivered to your door at the click of a button. Soft, with a slight crisp, a little bit chewy and 100% mouth watering… They are hand crafted using traditional methods and have no artificial colourings. Their macarons are also 100% gluten free, and the basic ingredients are organic almonds from Spain, organic Free Range eggs from Rookery Farm Eggs and Valrhona Chocolate (the Rolls Royce of chocolate).
Cannelés, or Cannelés de Bordeaux to give them their full title, are a speciality from … Bordeaux. A bit crispy and caramelised on the outside, and soft and custardy in the middle, Cannelés are unlike almost anything else. Eaten in France with breakfast, as a snack, or as dessert, cannelés go perfectly with a coffee, tea, glass of wine, or champagne at any time of the day. Cannelés are made with flour, butter, milk, eggs, vanilla pods and rum (if you want them to leave out the rum, they will – just let them know). If you’ve never tasted a cannelé before, you must, they’re scrumptious!
Time for a treat then…
