Today we bring you some summer sunshine, and the beautiful wedding this summer of Jodi and Sean submitted by Alan Law Photography. Alan specialises in natural, un-posed wedding and family photography throughout Cornwall and beyond. He thrives on capturing real emotions; real moments – no posing or setting up shots, simply capturing natural events as they happen.
We love the subtle styling of this intimate and relaxed St Ives Harbour Hotel wedding, perfectly in harmony with the beautiful location with small touches of seaside inspired detail. As Alan said:
”The day itself was fantastic; a lovely intimate ceremony at The St Ives Harbour Hotel (which is also known as The Porthminster), cocktails overlooking the ocean, some lovely time with the bride and groom (and around a thousand Cornwall holidaymakers, of course!) down on the beach – and all with gorgeous sunshine throughout.
One of my favourite shots is that one below, where they’re surrounded by people, but lost in their own little world. I don’t think you need to seek out a totally free-of-people area to showcase two people’s feelings for each other (in fact, it’s quite an impossibility to find somewhere empty if you want to go to the beach in St Ives during a hot summer’s day!); my style is far more about capturing those natural moments, rather than artificially setting up a situation, and the photo at the top is a good example of this. In fact, I think the presence of the holidaymakers actually adds to the photo, not only giving it more of a sense of place and context, but also showing how Jodi and Sean are so lost in their own moment – we just got married! – that they could be in the middle of sinking-sand and not even notice. OK, a slight exaggeration, but you know what I mean!”
