The lovely Kate Cullen of Lavender and Linen shares her ideas for a subtle and elegant touch of sparkle to your wedding…
A big trend for 21014 weddings is anything that sparkles and shimmers, but it can be a fine line between creating a reception with that touch of magic, and, well creating the wedding you thought you wanted when you were six with everything coated in a heavy dose of glitter!
Here are a few ideas that embrace the look but are suitable for a truly grown-up and refined wedding…
Sequins and Sparkle – Bringing Fairy Magic to your Wedding
Metallic shades obviously work well with this theme, a personal favourite of mine is rose gold which looks stunning with shades of pink and white.
Accessories are a great way of bringing sequins and sparkle into your wedding designs in a subtle way. This beautifully detailed belt and sequinned clutch would provide a delicate hint of sparkle without compromising an overall look of sleek elegance.

Stationery is another easy way to weave the theme throughout your day. I adore these labels by Paperknots – beautiful and refined.

This subtle sequinned backdrop would look wonderful displayed behind your top table. The gold place mats bring the whole look together alongside some romantic candlelight.

Edible glitter rimmed champagne saucers are an easy way to personalise your reception drinks.
Sequinned tablecloths and runners are now available from a few luxury linen hire companies, but be careful not to overuse. Runners with your floral designs look elegant and sophisticated – keep the blooms in neutral shades that don’t fight with the sparkle, roses and peonies are especially complementary.
A tablecloth for your cake table can really show off your it off perfectly, and works particularly well with a large simple white cake.

A delicate sequin ribbon tying your bouquet is a lovely little touch.
