“Its simple… I love you…”
I couldn’t let February go by without allowing the Red Rose to have its fifteen minutes in the limelight. This month we can’t fail to get excited by what is quite possibly Valentine’s day personified!
The red Rose has for years been a token of love. I’m sure there are many lucky recipients of a single red Rose out there on this day of LOVE!!!
If you are planning a February wedding the red Rose seems an obvious choice, but how should it be presented?… There are a few different options for you February Brides!
My particular favourite is a mass of luxury Grand Prix Roses… These for me are the best red Rose to use. There are a few really top varieties out there but the velvety nature and luxuriousness of the Grand Prix Rose gives the most perfect domed bouquet. In my personal opinion, the less foliage you use the better the effect… it is quite literally pure luxury.
This bouquet was created for a rustic romance shoot that I took part in back in November. These Roses really give you the most perfect circular domed bouquet.
Another option is to mix a few different varieties together. The superbly talented Emma Lappin has mixed Grand Prix Roses with the Black Bacarra variety. This gives lovely depth and texture to your Bridal posy. Here Emma has combined the red Roses with Skimmia, Freesia and Hypericum. A really lovely looking bouquet… I love this!
Some Brides out there may wish to have a mixture of cream and red Roses…. I personally would not recommend this. The purity of the cream Rose just does not sit well with the lustful romance of the red Rose. Both equally beautiful in their own right but stick to either variety. Of course if you have your heart set on the mix of cream and red then our wish is your command (it is your wedding day!) but we do like to offer alternatives…
Enjoy your February blooms everyone, I look forward to sharing some more floral inspiration with you next month!!!
