Monochrome Wedding Theme

During the past year or so we have seen a growing trend towards monochrome weddings. There is no doubt that brides are becoming more confident when using black as a part of their wedding colour scheme and there are many bridal designers featuring monochrome wedding dresses.

The beauty of a black and white or monochrome wedding is that it is a combination which looks chic, crisp and elegant and it lends itself to both contemporary and classic styling. It will also work with more or less any wedding venue.

The key to using monochrome is to have commitment and to keep it simple. Black and white envelopes and RSVP cards set the scene perfectly and there are lots of designs to choose from!

If you want to go for impact then be brave with your venue styling and go for striking contrasts with seat covers, table decorations and co-ordinated table numbers and plans.

If you prefer a more understated look then use a predominantly white theme with very small touches of black throughout. Forever Wedding Favours have championed white weddings, as they acknowledge ‘White is a symbol of innocence, purity and perfection… creating a mood of peace, comfort and harmony.’

Wedding favours can be simple and effective, with simple White Chocolate Dragees or Heart Shaped Mints, presented in whatever monochrome style you want!

When it comes to the cake, less is more. Layering will quite simply result in a breathtaking masterpiece of monochrome. Add flowers or other decorations such as hearts or feathers to capture the detail within your theme but take care not to overdo things.

You can also incorporate chevron, polka dots and stripes into your monochrome wedding theme! Quite simply, whatever your budget and however far you want to take it, monochrome is a great way to really make a statement – it’s really just black and white!
