Italian Wedding Flowers

A guest post with some gorgeous ideas for beautifully romantic wedding flowers (with just a hint of Italian inspiration!) from the super talented Stephanie Saunders of Stephanie Saunders Flowers… Over to Stephanie…

It’s Italian month on Aspirational Bride this November and so to run with this theme I thought I’d go through a few different options for you Italian lovers out there. We’ve touched on this topic in previous posts so I thought I’d give you a few options to muse if you are considering an Italian inspired wedding…

So, how do the Italians do it?… Look to the big fashion houses from Italy, Versace, Gucci, Valentino…. Think luxury, think glamour and think splendour. If you are  going for the more chic Italian option, stick to a muted tonal palette. Cream and ivory tones should form the base of the design, and nothing should be provided in half measures.

Throw flowers everywhere, this is an indulgent theme, run with it!!! Masses of Avalanche and Vendela Roses and statement Hydrangeas work well with this theme, the fluffiness and fullness of them are very chic. Subtle tones of blush and dusky hues of purples can be used if you want to inject some colour – but keep it to a minimum.

‘Café au Lait’ Dahlias are perfect for this ‘high end’ look… just the right amount of colour, yet statement enough to stand alone! Last month’s metallic inspiration is spot on for this look, ask your florist to use a little glitz and glamour in the arrangements and introduce some gold in there, the warmth will go so well with this colour palette!

For those who want a lot of colour but are keen on keeping it just as chic, opt for a rich red colour scheme. There is nothing more chic and glamorous than the red Rose. A simple dome of these would be perfect for you and your bridesmaids and will transfer perfectly into your venue décor too… again, you need flowers everywhere to pull off this look, but it’s worth it… It will take your breath away!

If you who want a more rustic Italian look let’s take a trip to Tuscany for our inspiration. This is much more of a laid back look. It’s effortless and charming and when done correctly looks so so pretty.

Lavender-in-Terracotta-Pots

The key to this look is in the small details and right flower choices. Lilac tones will look very pretty and when mixed with pure white blooms are “perfezione”. ‘Memory Lane’ Roses are also a lovely choice for this relaxed look, white Sweet Peas and Scabious tie in beautifully, and it wouldn’t be a Tuscan inspired wedding if we didn’t use Lavender!

Use Rosemary in abundance too, cover tea light holders and pillar candles in Rosemary sprigs, the smell will be just divine.

I hope this has sparked a little interest, please do bear this style in mind when it comes to Italian Wedding Flowers it’s a case of … La sua bella!
