Hilary and Mike’s Derbyshire Wedding
Hilary and Mike have been together for 12 years. They had a long engagement as they were perfectly happy as they were, but over champagne and sparklers in their garden on New Year’s Eve 2013, they decided they should set a date, and the planning began.
They had already booked a venue in Nottingham, but after being let down by that venue and having to cancel, their luck turned 360 degrees as they were lucky enough to find that Shottle Hall was free on their original date, due to a cancellation.
Hilary chose a beautifully elegant dress from James Bride in Nottingham that suited her perfectly, and on the day she looked absolutely stunning.
The cake was made by Tasha from Glitter & Sparkle. Hilary chose Art of Flowers as the florist for her table decorations, which were a mixture of blue and white and displayed in beautiful glass perfume bottles that she collected in the run up to the wedding.
There was also an element of DIY to this wedding, as there were wired button flowers which Hilary had made – which leads me to the incredible buttonholes and bouquets that Hilary made entirely herself – a bouquet for herself and her bridesmaid (Hilary’s daughter, Cassia), and a buttonhole for every single guest (including me!).
Hilary’s a Cockney girl, hence the button theme, and she used buttons that she has collected over the years, as well as ones that belonged to her mother, father, grandmother and great grandmother.
