Here Comes The Pie! (Wedding Reception Food Ideas) –
It doesn’t get much better than this – writing a post about wedding reception food ideas, most notably pies and Pieminister pies! (Prepare to feel hungry – Here Comes The Pie!) We are huge pie lovers, whether sweet or savoury, and it appears that we are not alone as couples around the country are opting for pies, or even traditional ‘pie and mash’ at their wedding reception! There is something quintessentially British about pies, and indeed ‘pie and mash’. Pies are the archetypal comfort food and they are sure to be a winner with guests at your wedding reception. They are also hugely versatile, varied both in size and taste, and can look equally fabulous on dainty vintage china or served rustic style with a mug of cider!
We are huge fans of Pieminister, who have been baking award winning pies since 2003. All their pies are made in-house in Bristol using responsibly sourced ingredients, they use only use free range British chicken and dairy produce, farm-assured British meat and MSC certified fish. Their core range of pies have won Great Taste Awards, including the Moopie (British beef steak, slow-cooked in ale) the Chicken of Aragon pie ( free range British chicken, smoked bacon roast garlic, vermouth and tarragon) the Minty Lamb and the new Pietanic pie (MSC certified salmon, Pollock and smoked haddock in a parsley sauce).
Their vegetarian pie range has been approved by the Vegetarian Society and includes the Heidi pie (voted Best Vegetarian Pie in the British Pie Awards), made with Capricorn Goats’ cheese from Somerset, combined with sweet potato, spinach, red onion and roast garlic – delicious! Their extensive menu also includes delicious sides to accompany the pies such as red wine gravy buttery mashed potato and minted mushy peas. They also offer canapés, starters, pudding and cakes as well as breads, cheeses, hams, pates and pickles to keep guests going late into the night!
