Birds have been a huge trend in the fashion and design world for a few seasons now (yes, we’ve even added them to our branding here at Aspirational Bride!) and you can find them on everything from home furnishings to clothing. Doves have long been a traditional favorite for weddings but recently we have seen the emergence of both ‘Blue Bird’ and ‘Love Bird’ themes as key wedding trends for 2013 and 2014. These themes look set to become even more prominent during the coming seasons.
Birds – Key Wedding Trends 2013
There are lots of ways the ‘Blue Bird’ and ‘Love Bird’ theme can be incorporated into your wedding styling, but be careful not to overdo it – your guests won’t want to feel they’ve walked into an Alfred Hitchcock film!
Our moodboard today contains some ideas centered around the ‘Blue Bird’ theme, and our colour inspiration is the egg blue of a Robin’s egg… If this shade of blue doesn’t inspire you, then you can opt for a deeper Dutch blue, or go for softer pairings of peach/dusky pink and pale green.
Some possible wedding styling options include:
♥ Mini bird houses or bird cages – great as table centerpieces, and can be sprayed any colour! You can dress these in so many imaginative and creative ways but they often look best when simply filled with flowers.
♥ Bird cake toppers – cute and right on trend if the birds ‘carry’ miniature bunting with a special message for the newlyweds!
♥ Bird themed stationery – including place card holders beside folded napkins which contain a single feather (colour of your choice!)
♥ Bridal bouquet – surround your bouquet with a border of feathers (you can dye them whatever colour you like to compliment or contrast with your flowers!)
♥ Wedding favors – use candles/soaps shaped into birds, or Robin’s egg blue almonds as traditional favors placed in mini nests.
