7 Wedding Cake Trends 2014

We’re so pleased to introduce the next guest post (with lots of gorgeous images of wedding cakes!) from Jaclyn of Ivory and Rose…

Today we are taking a little break from thinking about your wedding cake to swoon over some gorgeous wedding cake photos. Below are the most requested wedding cake styles couples have booked for this year.

I take fully responsibility for anyone who needs a slice of cake after seeing these!

7 Wedding Cake Trends 2014

Trend No.1

Gold metallic wedding cakes – this style works so well with dusty pinks & ivories.

Trend No.2

Softly coloured wedding cakes – this style of cake is an oldie but a good one. It won’t go out of style or date in your wedding photos.

Trend No.3

Naked wedding cakes – these gorgeous cakes work perfectly for a rustic summer wedding! I’ve been told they are “a glammed up victoria sponge”.

Trend No.4

Vintage wedding cakes – again another style of wedding cake that was VERY popular in 2013 and continues so into 2014. These guys are my favourite designs.

Trend No.5

Buttercream wedding cakes – if you are not a fan of the sweet fondant that covers a more traditional wedding cake, then this style is just for you. It is a little more chic than the naked wedding cake and works perfectly with fresh flowers.

Trend No.6

Textured wedding cakes – if you have a ruffled wedding dress or a chevron styled theme this can be incorporated into your wedding cake giving it a very unique textured style.

Trend No.7

Wedding dessert tables – really popular if you would like to give your guests a choice of desserts. Why not include macaroons, meringues, cake pops or cupcakes.
